ScaledPapers vs Statuspage

Statuspage is Atlassian's incident-communication service. You tell it what happened; it emails and texts your subscribers and hosts a public page. It does not check whether your site is up — you bring your own monitoring (PagerDuty, Datadog, an internal health check) and Statuspage renders what those tools report.

ScaledPapers is the other half of that job: it pings your URLs on a schedule from multiple regions, opens incidents when a check fails, and publishes the public page — in one product, with a free plan.

Where ScaledPapers fits

You want one tool that both watches the site and tells customers. A check that fails three times in a row flips the component on your status page and can open an incident — no glue code between a monitor and a page. The console creates pages and checks in minutes, and the Checks API manages them programmatically.

What ScaledPapers does not have today: SMS/phone subscriber alerts (email, RSS, and Slack are live).

Where Statuspage fits

Statuspage is the industry default for communicating incidents at scale: subscriber management, component-level status, metrics display, and Atlassian ecosystem integrations (Jira, Opsgenie, Confluence). It fits teams that already have monitoring and need a mature, customizable page with enterprise features like SSO and audience-specific private pages.

If you want Statuspage's page but not the price of feeding it with a separate monitor, that gap is what ScaledPapers covers: free pages, built-in probes, and the same subscribe options (email, RSS, Slack) on the free plan.

Notes

  • Statuspage pricing is subscriber-tiered: Free (100 subscribers), Hobby $29 (250), Startup $99 (1,000), Business $399 (5,000), Enterprise $1,499 (25,000). Private and audience-specific pages cost extra.
  • ScaledPapers counts nothing against subscribers today and its checks, incidents, and API access are free during the pre-paid period.
  • Product updates are on the changelog.
