Terms of use

These terms cover your use of ScaledPapers websites, apps, APIs, emails, and public status pages (the “service”). The service is operated by Nurbol Sakenov. Using the service means you accept these terms and the privacy policy.

We may update these terms. The current version is always at scaledpapers.com/terms. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the new terms. Breaking these terms can lead to account closure.

Accounts

  1. Some features need an account. The email you use must be one you control. Information you submit should be accurate enough for us to operate the account.
  2. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else used it.
  3. Do not share a single login across a team. Create separate accounts when that feature exists, or wait until team invites ship.
  4. We may disable an account if we believe these terms were broken, the account is being used to attack the service, or we are required to by law.

Acceptable use

  1. Use the service only in ways that are legal where you are.
  2. The website down checker and uptime probes may only target systems you are allowed to test. Do not use them to scan, flood, or attack third parties.
  3. Do not try to break into, overload, or reverse engineer the service beyond ordinary use.
  4. Do not resell or scrape the service without written permission.
  5. Status page content you publish is your responsibility. Do not post unlawful or abusive material. We may remove content or pages that violate the law or these terms.

Privacy and notices

  1. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
  2. We may send service and security messages related to your account. Those are part of the service and may not be optional while the account is open.

Payment

  1. The service is currently offered without a paid plan. If paid plans launch, prices will be posted on Pricing.
  2. When charges exist, they are due in advance for the billing period you choose. Unused time in a period is not refunded unless required by law.
  3. Prices do not include taxes that a government may require us or a payment processor to collect.
  4. A price change for an existing paid subscription will be announced at least 30 days ahead.

API

If you use an API or a third-party tool that talks to ScaledPapers, these terms still apply. We may throttle or suspend API access that harms the service. We will try to email the account owner first unless we have to act immediately.

Cancellation

  1. You can delete a status page in the console, or ask us to close the whole account by emailing [email protected].
  2. After deletion, public URLs and stored page data are not recoverable from the service.
  3. We may suspend or close accounts that stay unused for a long time, or that we believe harm other users. We will try to email you first when that is practical.
  4. Public hostnames of the form {slug}.status.scaledpapers.com may be reused after a page is deleted.

The service itself

  1. The service is provided “as is”. Uptime probes, status pages, and the paper reader may be interrupted, slow, or wrong.
  2. We use third-party hosts and vendors. Their outages can affect ScaledPapers.
  3. We may change or stop a feature. We are not liable for that change.
  4. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect damages from using or not being able to use the service.
  5. Support is by email, not phone.
  6. If one part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms are the whole agreement for the service.
